Thanks,

The block outlet at the rear feeds the pressure gauge and the inlet of the oil filter on the side of the filter. The outlet on the bottom goes to the inlet on the block towards the front. Of course it could work both ways. I have photos of both variants on stock engines. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2007 Posts: 615 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2007 Posts: 615 | Thanks for splain'n it one more time blu-I seem to remember my gage comming off the rear one..I suppose the ones that do the opposite did so by accident?

I am preparing a filter canister that I got off a 1951 216 in a truck. In this model, the bottom fitting is connected to the central tube and there is a restriction in the bottom outlet fitting. However, the only way for oil to pass into the center tube is through one tiny hole, up about 3/4 of the height of the tube. So I see two outcomes from this layout. First, the can will never drain just sitting there and number two the primary restriction is very small and is located on the side of the central tube. Oh, and there is a separate drain on the bottom of the can for servicing. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2005 Posts: 1,317 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Oct 2005 Posts: 1,317 | | | | | | Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 | Dave, the link comes up as "Forbidden".
