Ok guys here is my question I'm going to go with a 1955 4 speed open transmission behind my 1962 235 and put in a blazer rear-end. Should I look for a 3.08 gearing or the 3.42

I have a 235 with a T-10 4 speed and a 3.42 rear. For now, I just use my truck around town and it's great (under 60). But if I were to do much highway driving, I would probably go with the 3.08 rear if you want to keep the 4 speed. I'm looking for a 5 speed to run with my 3.42. (best of both worlds I hope). smile Good luck

I found an RPM calculator that you can download. It will probably help you in your decision.

Here is a whole collection of calculators that don't require downloading:

I have a 261 and I'm planning on doing a 3.08 with the SM420 4 speed.
