One was a rectangular opening just left of the glove box. I'm assuming its the ashtray. The other item is a missing knob just above the radio on the passengers side of the dash. Is there a book that anyone can recommend for reference on restoring Apaches?

Without going out in the pasture in the dark, I can't tell you about the missing knob. I'm guessing choke and throttle go there.
