I was reading on another website that alot of the parts for the sm420 are no longer in production. I know that the sm420 is a very dependable transmission but in the event that something does break, am I just out of luck? Thanks!

Maybe they can help.

A lot of the folks in the 'off road' community use the sm420 tranny in their modified rigs. So, there might be other companies as well that manufacture parts for it.

Yep, I sold a spare 420 to an offroader and got a good price for it. It fits well in short wheelbase vehicles and the 7:1 1st gear is about as low as you can get and they are very strong. Rockcrawlers love them.
