As far as cab mounting I guess is my biggest worry. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 4,983 Master Gabster | | Master Gabster Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 4,983 | The 57 is some wider than the AD and probably not a good choice unless you're into self-flagellation. I assume you have a cab for these frames?

Ive been looking for an original but have only found the 57 for a good price | | | | | Joined: Jan 2008 Posts: 4,963 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2008 Posts: 4,963 | If you want originality, I would go with a 48-55 frame. There is hardly any similarity between 49 and 57 frames. It would be doable but it would be a lot of work to accomplish really nothing. I was cleaning up here a while back and gave several parts pickups away that had good frames. Also, a GMC and a Chev 1/2 ton frame are different. Get one that is a bolt together and save a lot of work even if you have to buy a parts truck for a couple of hundred. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 4,983 Master Gabster | | Master Gabster Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 4,983 | I really doubt you'll find an original frame. You will probably have to buy a junker 47-55 and part out the sheetmetal. The only reason not to use the original frame is to incorporate the IFS on the later model frame. Personally I would rather do a clip than to go through all that work.
