Maintenance is so much easier. Does anyone know a source for fiberglass parts for Early '50 Chevy trucks?
I'm not holding my breath for a reply on this one.

Has anyone done this with the factory sheet metal? | | | | Joined: Feb 2007 Posts: 385 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Feb 2007 Posts: 385 | I did the front end on a Pontiac Ventura II eighth miler once. It wasn't too bad even without pneumatic cylinders.
I think that the sheet metal on a Chevy truck might be kind of heavy.
Basically, you just weld or rivet the fenders to the hood, build a tubular frame that supports the hood, and put the hinges in the front. No need to cut the bottom rear parts off the fenders because there is no noticeable curvature there.

I have seen it done this way before. I like the idea of a tilt front end, but the cut in the front fenders ruined the look.
Never hold your farts in. They travel up your spine and into your brain...that is where crappy ideas come from.
