I have a 64 chevy truck and want to know if i can put in a new crate motor. i want a 350 just because everything is cheap for it and is easily found. would this one work (not the one w/ performance package) - http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ProductDisplay?prrfnbr=146671&prmenbr=361 ?
also, if this engine does work, can i get a crate 350 cheaper elsewhere? i just want a bottom of the line, basic GM 350. any help is appreciated, thanks.

That is a great package. I,ve used many of them. It will fit perfect in your 66 if you already have a v-8. The last one I put in a 56. Ran beautiful. Most large cities have a dealer that specialises in them & has the best price. You can call around. Try to find a source were you can pick it up or have it delivered as shipping is very expensive. We use Superior Chev. in the K.C. area.

Is Cabin John near the Cabin John ice rink. I can't remember. I used to work at that ice rink.
Ya might try doing a search of the forums for "crate motor" and stuff like that. There's been threads about this. Recently there was one with some links as I recall. One was a pretty good bang for the buck.

Amen to Superior Chevrolet!!! Their Performance Center at the dealership is awesome, especially if you like to look at what you are buying before purchasing. Some of the auto parts suppliers are teaming up with some of the performance product manufacturers and supplying crate motors. Edelbrock also offers a new crate motor in many displacements.

mugsy, the real cabin john is like 15 min away from cabin john ice rink. that ice rink and the mall arent even in cabin john so i duno why they call it that but whatever.
