OK guys, so nobody on this site has ever installed side motor mounts on a 235???
My previous inquiry concerning side mounts and adapters to a 38 P.U. was deafening. Seems like everyone has Re engineered a 37,but a 38 is obscene. Alright I confess it has a 37 box, Rboards and all 4 fenders, will that change things??
Is there adapters to mount the 235 to the side. I have a front mount, but can no longer use the rear Bell Housing Mounts. I need to prevent the engine torque from tearing everything loose.
The hotrod sites have universal adapters to install a V8, no help.

the later 235's used mounts on the very front side like this, maybe you should be lookin for 55 up mounts ... the engine brackets and mounting pegs are very similar to the ones used for the early 283, and complete sets for that application are available repro, you could adapt them, just need to fab some frame brackets

The last couple of years for 235,s had side mounts similar to v-8,s in the cars. They were cast into the block. I dought if they could be used on the other engines.

I see Red from the ser# this is a 54 probably had a powerglide, from a sedan. the casting config is triangle, not similar to yours. thanks

Say Wrenchbender I think you are correct about the casting, but, are these similar to a V8. If I bought motor mounts for a V8 will they install, and if I bought a Hotrod Xmember would the mounts attach??
I will be going to town Tues do you think any of the FLAPS may be of assistance. We go once a month, so its important.

They were completely diferent from a v-8. You could probably modify a universal crossmember to work but unless you have one of that rare model engine I don,t think there is any thing to attach to.

These are pics of a 261 of uncertain vintage I've got sitting in my shop, with what appears to be the standard 3-hole midship mount bosses. I remember swapping a 283 into a 58 Chevy 2-door sedan that had come stock with a 235, and using the same side mount brackets for the V-8, but that was LOTS of years ago!

58 was the first year the passenger cars went to the 3-point mounts, two in the middle of the engine, one at the trans tailshaft, so I'm pretty sure at least the later-model 235's would have had a similar provision for attaching mounts. Don't know about yours, though!

Here is a picture of a 1953 - 235 block out of a passenger car with a powerglide. It was the first block produced with pressurized oiling. It has the side mount holes. There ae two up and one below, so it is a different pattern from a V-8.

Yes that is similar, if not identical. The serial numbers showed it to be a 54. I bought this motor so many years ago I can't remember if I bought the 4 speed and Bell at the same time, albeit the trans was not from that unit.
Where do I get mounts and an adapter to the 38 frame??

Oh by the way, I am removing the truck 4 speed and bell housing, thats the purpose of needing the mid motor mounts, a sedan Bell housing mounts differently. Sorry for the correction.
