Seems that all the literature is saying we should replace our old ball/socket tie rod ends with new style ones. I can still get MOOG old style tie rod ends and was looking for a pro or con answer. I figure if they worked for GM back then they should work for me. I may add my truck is totally stock, if you made some horsepower changes you may want something else.

The older tie rods ends are more open to the elements and require more attention. I prefir original restorations so I'm keeping mine.  | | |

Just seems that every catalog you look at seem to be pushing the new style rod ends. If the ball is oval I guess it would be wise to replace the ends. Otherwise it does not get exposaed to any salt or much water and is greased about every 1000 miles. Then there are the naysayers who claim the old style are dangereous, I suppose without proper lube and maintenance. I can get original style from MOOG but they are pricey compared to the new type. | | |
