I am putting a turn signal unit from the steering column on a 1953 Chevrolet car on my 1951 Chevrolet truck. Does anyone know how the wiring would connect? I have determined on the switch from the car, which wire is for left or right, which wire is the hot lead and which is the ground. Which wire would go to the flasher? which to the brake switch?

The hot wire. Connect it to the flasher and connect the flasher to the power.

None. The early style turn signal switches did not support a shared stop/turn lamp. To use this switch you either have to add some circuitry or use separate turn and stop lamps.

It's true. I really don't do anything but browse the Internet looking for trouble...
