So far the '60 235 motor has 100 miles and is running well. The only problem is the neoprene rear main seems to be leaking. No weird noises, runs smooth going down the road, good throttle respose.
I'm running Castrol 30WT, no filter. The oil pressure @ 800 RPM hot is 20 PSI. Above 1,000 RPM is 35-40 PSI. Sound about right?
Is it normal for a new engine to "puff" a little blue smoke when started?
Thanks for all the help,
chip

First is that the rings aren't seated. Get on a lonely road and accelerate from 20 to 40 as fast as possible then back down to 20. Up and down several times should do it. The other possibility is did you put in umbrella seals on the valves or go with the O-rings. The O-rings will allow some seepage when the engine sits, but usually doesn't show up for quite a while.
