There was a "lacquer" of sorts in fuel tank from REALLY old gas which had solidified. It was clogging about 1/3 of the fuel pickup tube. Several hours of soaking, and "augering" w/ some electrical fence and...VOILA.
Already dark when that was completed, so rest of system will be another day.
By the way, it's a 1956 gmc 2-1/2 with 302.
The fuel pump is AC manufactured & has a secondary pump attached @ bottom. One end goes from or to the intake manifold, the other disappears(maybe into cab, have to check better). IS THIS A VACUUM PUMP? If not, what might it be and for what purpose? Thanks in advance for the help!

Why does it also connect to intake? Does it help with the vacuum booster for the brakes?
