OK, so I am zipping along on the Frankentruck and its time to put a bed on it. I have a local Sheet Metal vendor donating shop time and selling me the material at cost. Now I need overall dimensions of a stock 1/2Ton bed as Frankentruck didnt come with a bed, and the '48 bed is a pile of parts, some bent, some rusty, some missing.

Can anyone point me towards the right direction.

Thanks in advance.

Scott

Todd, I will try to find a few side pics of a bed on the interweb and mark up the dimensions. However for starters, I know the bed sides are 79.75" long, and the tail gate is 50" wide with the flanges making it 51".

So, what is the inside width? What is the distance from the leading edge of the fender to the front of the bed (will need this to see if I can get away with a shorter bed on the S-10 frame). Stock rear overall width from outside of fender to outside of fender (help in fitting tires) Height from bed to top of bed side where the rail starts? Stock bed height from ground to floor of bed (reference)

Thanks in advance Todd

Scott, The inside width is 50" and the leading edge of the fender to the front of the bed is 16", The Stock rear overall width from outside of fender to outside of fender is 74" (12" from bedside to the outside of the fender) and 19" from outside bottom bed to top of bed side where the rail starts(14" from top of bed wood to top of bed side... 3/4" wood so that would make it 14 3/4" inside)
22 3/4" is the bed height from ground to floor of bed (but mine has been lowered)

Hope this helps Scott

Todd, any idea how much yours has been lowered? dont think it matters. Gave my sheet metal guy a sketch with dimensions and asked for a quote. Awaiting with baited breath.......
