The eng fit in the truck perfect. The only problem is the water pump shaft is longer and the radiator won't clear the pump shaft. The water pump is different on a '54 block, so I can't use that pump on the newer engine. Has anyone here run into that, and if so, what is a remedy? Thank you in advance.

Check around for prices on the water pump. Most old-truck-parts vendors sell them and the prices vary. I do not have enough experience to recommend a specific vendor or manufacturer - maybe someone else does.
For example (approximate prices): Chevy Duty=$140; Jim Carter=$75

Shop for good prices, but don't forget the customer service. I highly recommend Bowtie Bits for customer service, but I also know there are other good vendors out there.

If ya run into a roadblock @ Napa you can always get ahold of Patrick, 520-836-1117 he has a shopping cart [ literally ] of those pumps ready to go. | | |
