I went to buy the spring kit for my '75 rearend that is now under the '64. Problem is, there are two different sizes of shoes for this year truck, 2" and 2-3/4". How do I tell which one my rearend uses? I thought about measuring the width of the drum face.

that would probably work. don't think the factory would have a 3'' drum for a 2'' shoe or visversa

Yeah, but I bet they could have made all the drums fit 2-3/4", and when the 2" were made, used the same drum. I hope that's the case.

Just measure the shiny surface inside the drum where the old shoe rode.

Are the original shoes missing? Why not just measure the lining width on thr old ones?

Yes, they went out with the trash. There's truth in statement, don't throw anything away until it's done!

Well, after measuring the drum, it can only be 2". The inner surface of the drum is 2-1/8".
