From what I have noticed at the junkyard, the grilles from a GMC and a Chevy are interchangeable. I prefer the look of the GMC 40s grille, but if I end up with a Chevy I should be able to swap the grille, right? Also, was there any body difference between the 40s chevy/ GMC panels? Thank you.

They are interchangeable to a certain extent. The lower chin, valance and fender entensions are all different.
