Anyone else on here want to verify that? 1957 Chevrolet 1/2-ton Stepside LB in the Gallery My Photobucket shots The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself." - John Stuart Mill (1806 - 1873) | | | | | Joined: Jun 2008 Posts: 16 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Jun 2008 Posts: 16 | Help! i'm supposed to pick up this engine tomorrow. what would i have to do to make it work? | | | | | Joined: May 2006 Posts: 423 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: May 2006 Posts: 423 | I suppose it's late to jump in now, but considering how often we are advised to drop the later engine in our early 50's trucks, and how easy this swap is supposed to be, I would expect the 53 engine would bolt right in, easy as pie. The '53 engine is a low pressure babbit-pounding motor which has a number of disadvantages compared to the post-'54 engines, so many of the wiser guys would recommend that you try to find a slightly newer engine. This question would have gotten a lot of quicker replies on the General Truck Talk Forum... Have you bought it?
