The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Engine Shop 292 clutch fan?

Right now the 292 in my 64 C10 has a solid mount fan. And it's kinda noisey. Besides, I don't need the fan turning all the time in the winter. So I was thinkin about using a clutch-type fan from a 70s or 80s V8.

Has anyone done this with any success? (I'm sure I'm not the first to think of it.)

Is the water pump bolt pattern the same as the pre-metric water pumps on V8s?

Been there, done that. Works great. It's a bolt-in fit.

Now don't even think about asking me what vehicle it came from. My shade tree mechanic uncle had it lying around and it happened to be a perfect fit. Even after cruising 75-80 mph on the interstate the 292 is still plenty cool.

Of course having a relatively new 3-core radiator and .73 overdrive helps too.

You want to be real cool and quiet install an eletric fan
