I obviously cannot shorten my water pump shaft until I know which pulley I will be using. LMC sells one for 80 bucks, but that seemed a bit steep for a plain old steel pulley. I'm sure there are others but I haven't seen where anyone IDed them. You are correct about not cutting until you have the pulley to eyeball in.
A stock one will do you no good. Too long. You need one close to the same diameter as stock. It fits great, seemed to be out of the late 70's/early 80's. Bolted on, exactly the same diameter as original, and same bolt pattern and center hole diameter, and the right dish. It only cost me $1.
