Do I have the right serial number? | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,262 Bubba - Curmudgeon | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,262 | What is the number/code that you have and where did you find the number/code?
Welcome back - thank you for serving.

Nice truck though, wish mine looked that good. | | | | Joined: Dec 2007 Posts: 1,403 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2007 Posts: 1,403 | What do the tags/badges on the dash say? | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,262 Bubba - Curmudgeon | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,262 | 210W-K 4524 is on the VID plate (where is the plate located)?
It is 1950 or earlier, because it has the driver-side cowl-vent.
Where is the gas tank filler?
Does it have modern-style tube shock absorbers?
These next items might have changed over the years, but they might help identify the year: - What is the color of the knob/handle on the lever that controls the driver-side cowl-vent? - What color is the wiper knob?

"QW"= 1947 161"in. wheelbase, 2 ton truck. Other ways of distinguishing the model, are the smooth firewall(no "H" enforcing), larger 5 fuse, fuse box, fuel tank, on the right frame-rail, & pinstripping on the leading edge of the grille bars, which are all '47, & '48 model characteristics. Looks like you have a set of Vintage Marble Reflectors also. Those things are like "Gold", in good condition. Got any pictures of the reflectors. I've got a collection of them myself. Nice truck, & thanks for the pictures. | | | | Joined: Dec 2007 Posts: 1,403 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2007 Posts: 1,403 | I think spanky either has better eyesight or is more observant than a couple of us! | | | | Joined: Sep 2007 Posts: 41 New Guy | New Guy Joined: Sep 2007 Posts: 41 | Thanks for your help, especially spanky. those are all the pictures I have, but I can try to get my dad to take some more. That plate is located inside the driver's side door jamb. I'd have to ask if they swapped out a lot of parts, but as far as I know they just ran it till the main bearings went out, then parked it. | | | | Joined: Sep 2007 Posts: 41 New Guy | New Guy Joined: Sep 2007 Posts: 41 | Anybody know the best way to fix up the bed? I was thinking about building short sides, tall enough that kids can ride in the back for parades. | | | | Joined: May 2008 Posts: 67 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: May 2008 Posts: 67 | i would take all the wood off, and Zero Rust, or POR-15 the metal. then use oak (sealed of course) to make it, and the sides.
this is the plan for mine... | | |
