I posted about this truck about 8 months ago, and I got a lot of feedback on it. Well, I got home from Iraq, and took some new pictures. Here you go.

Thanks. I tried the VIN decoder thing, and it said that it's a 1962, but I know it's a '47. Do I have the right serial number?

Have you checked the engine number on the pad next to the distributor? Many states registered vehicles by the engine number. I notice that the engine is a later 235. And that is good.

It looks like the "Fireball" that someone(can't remember who you said did it, if any) painted on it is coming off. Nice truck though, wish mine looked that good.

What do the tags/badges on the dash say?

210W-K 4524 is on the VID plate (where is the plate located)?

It is 1950 or earlier, because it has the driver-side cowl-vent.

Where is the gas tank filler?

Does it have modern-style tube shock absorbers?

These next items might have changed over the years, but they might help identify the year:
- What is the color of the knob/handle on the lever that controls the driver-side cowl-vent?
- What color is the wiper knob?

That's "21QW", which decifers to, "21" =Janesville, Wis. assembly plant. "QW"= 1947 161"in. wheelbase, 2 ton truck. Other ways of distinguishing the model, are the smooth firewall(no "H" enforcing), larger 5 fuse, fuse box, fuel tank, on the right frame-rail, & pinstripping on the leading edge of the grille bars, which are all '47, & '48 model characteristics. Looks like you have a set of Vintage Marble Reflectors also. Those things are like "Gold", in good condition. Got any pictures of the reflectors. I've got a collection of them myself. Nice truck, & thanks for the pictures.

I think spanky either has better eyesight or is more observant than a couple of us!

Thanks for your help, especially spanky. those are all the pictures I have, but I can try to get my dad to take some more. That plate is located inside the driver's side door jamb. I'd have to ask if they swapped out a lot of parts, but as far as I know they just ran it till the main bearings went out, then parked it.

Anybody know the best way to fix up the bed? I was thinking about building short sides, tall enough that kids can ride in the back for parades.

i would take all the wood off, and Zero Rust, or POR-15 the metal. then use oak (sealed of course) to make it, and the sides.

this is the plan for mine...
