They say necessity is the mother of invention. Well, I had no help and needed to remove the cab from the frames today. Here is a shot of how I did it.

I nailed together a couple of 2x4's and stuck it through the door frame. Took some experimenting to get the center of gravity right, but once I did, the cherry picker lifted it straight up. No strain!

Now on to the dreaded body work.

Wow, well done!
But what happend to the front window, was is broken before?
And what was the next step after lifting up? As far as I can see, there is no possibility to move neither the cherry picker nor the frame?!

Nice, my guess is slowly roll her out towards the camera and then set her down on your home-made-roll-around cab stand.

COSMO is righton to what I did on my 3100. That's how I lifted and moved my cab away from the frame, although I was outside with more room and I hooked a cinch strap to help keep the cab from swinging side to side too much.

I basicly did it the same way except I ran the 2X's in an X pattern from the rear corners of the cab to under each corner of the dash. Bolted them together with an eye bolt in the center, then ran a strap from the center to a eyebolt in the floor for stability. I also added weight to balance it out.

Either way it works great.

Yeah it just rolled back towards the camera and I set it on my wooden frame on rollers.

Now - how do roll it over so I can work on the bottom ? Any creative solutions to that one ? Show me some pictures if you have any.

I thought of bolting a wooden frane to the firewall and just tipping it over, slowly of course. I would like to get the floor pan work done first. I am going to probably use Herculiner on it. Then I will clean up the firewall, then the rest of the cab.

You can rest it on the firewall or the back just take it easy when you tip it. Here's my pic's of that:

Pull stumps...that is what the truck was made for!

Curt - thanks for the ideas. I like that shade of blue. I think I will rock it over on the firewall instead of the rear of the cab. The rear does just not appear to be sturdy enough.

I read where someone rolled their cab onto and old mattress without damaging it, I never tried it though.

I rolled mine on an old carpet then slid it to the back of the frame, spun it then tipped it onto my dolly. I did it twice by myself. I would recommend just getting a few helping hands over and lifting it off though. It was not the best hing I could have done for the cab or my back... fortunately nobody got hurt.
