My current tires are 29's but i want to put on some 33's. I dont know anything about getting bigger wheels. Does anyone know what size rims i'd need or how many lugs and if i'd have to take off the drum brakes or anything, anything you'd know needs to be done. Thanks in advance.

Truck is a 1965 chevy C10 Stepside. I'm in the gallery as Preston Mallard.

33s will be a bit too much for that truck, most likely they'll rub. especially in the rear. i wouldn't fo any bigger than a 31 or 32 inch tall tire on that truck. You will need wider rims, a 15x8 speced for a '73-'87 4x4 or full size Blazer will do fine with the 31s, a 15x9 would be better with the 32s. As far as lug count goes, stay with the 6 lug.

About the only way would be to go with longer and stiffer springs, or use a spacer with the original springs. I won't say it would work, but you might be able to use a 2wd lift for a '73-'87 truck in the front. Just out of curiosity, why do you want such a large tire on a 2wd truck? It will make steering hard, especially without power assist, plus the extra weight will effect the brakes, too. And don't forget, it will change the overall geaing, so if it's too high, you may see a drop in performance, especially in town.

rim width depends on what width the new tires, from the looks of you truck it has stock rims witch are either a 6 in. or 7 in. wide rim i'd sugest that you would get rims that are 8 in. wide the max tire width you could run on those is 12.50 in. wide tire. as for a what it cost for a lift it all depends on what truck you have and what kinda of money you want to spend, i can lift a 73-87 chevy 1/2 ton 4x4 4in. for bout $200, your truck is a 65 1/2 ton 2wd so it has the coil spring rear suspension, and the front is your typical a-arm with coil springs, currently there is no lift kit on the market for you truck, and even if it was a 4x4 there is still no lift kit on the market, to give you truck a lift as is you'll need to get some coil spring spacers they are sold in kits or 2 (need 2 for each spring) for like $10 you'll need 4 kits heres a link to them on JC Whitneyspring adjusters i'm not sure if they would give you enough lift to fit 33s but it'd be close
another thing you have to consider is your truck has a 250 I-6 and i'm assuming 3spd column shift and probly 3.73s for axle gears, perhaps higher (numerically lower) and if thats the case and you go and put 33s on that truck your gona have to ride the clutch like you wouldn't believe, and if you have a stiff head wind that ole 6 might not have enough snuff to keep ya rolling
my truck 1964 Chevy C10 is a ole 2wd that i converted to 4x4, and it has either 3.73s or 4.11s for axle gears, and in the pics those tires are 32s and it would start out real nice, but i have a 350 V-8 and 4 spd trans and it would start out fairly nice, had to ride the clutch a bit on hills (normally i don't use 1st so i always start out in 2nd unless i have a heavy load on) now i have stepped up to 35s and i have to ride the clutch just a hair on flat ground but when i'm pulling 8,000lbs that ole 350 doesn't quite have enough power with the bigger tires

don't mean to bore you to death but just informing you that there alot to think about when putting on bigger tires, and doing lifts, (also with bigger tires your speedo will be off)

Well, im sure you can understand im just a soon to be 16 year old that just wants his truck to look big, scary and intimidating. But just to make things clear, incase you were wondering, im not that retard that tries to go bogging in a 2WD. All my buddies have lifts and big tires, and i just feel like a panzy with my 29's. so scratch the lift thing, do you know where I can get tires and rims?

all depends on what you want you can look around on the internet and buy new tires and rims, but thats big bucks, try going to junk yards if theres any around to look for rims, for tires see if someplaces ever get there hands on used oversized tires my 35s that i bought for my 64 have plenty of tread left and i got the set of 4 for $200 brand new the tires are $150 each...... ya just gotta start asking around and talking to people

Please don't misunderstand, I surely didn't meant to offend. I was just wondering why so big. I would go with a 30x9.50 or 31x10.50 15, either one will fill the wheelwells nicely, and still give wou an intimidating look. yeah, it may not be as tall as the lifted 4x4s, but you'll outhandle them on the steet anyday. In addition to what was suggestedm check at your local tire shops or Sears Auto, they can set you up with the right wheels for the tire size you pick.
