I think you are correct on the float drop...1 3/4". The float level is dependent on several things but your rebuild kit should have had a nice heavy paper gauge supplied with it just for this purpose.
Here are some measurements. This is for float level which is measured with air horn upside down and the float resting on the needle. 1 9/32" WITHOUT gasket or 1 5/16" WITH gasket.
These measurements came from a old Motors Manual and not a rebuild kit...they might not correct for your kit. The supplied paper gauge also helps you tweak the brass floats into alignment side to side so they don't hang up. Proper level is real important. Good luck, I hope this helps.
