The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Paint and Body Shop Doors Door Seals / weatherstrip installation - correct ?

I have a 52 chevy 1/2 ton, trying to figure out the correct way to install the weatherstripping around the doors, I bought the good seals from Chevy duty, they have a longer leading edge on one side, that I assume protrudes into the cab opening once installed ? But having trouble shutting the doors completely once there. Doors shut fine and flush before with the old seals.
so any pictures out there I can see to determine which way they go ?

The 90° corner of the seal is glued on both legs into the corner of the door frame, the acute angle or more pointed corner is directly oposite to the 90° corner and pointing outword. Here's a shot of the drivers side seal, and these were from Chevy Duty also last year:

Thanks Denny, yep I put mine on wrong.

And give those new seals a few weeks to "set" if you have problems with the doors closing all the way. I had trouble getting mine to close flush, or real close to flush, at first. Kept the doors closed as far as possible for a few weeks with a few tweeks here and there and eventually they did come in.

Hello Denny, what about the bottom of the door where the metal strip holds a seal, I noticed my door seals were too long, and there is enough to do the bottom of the doors, but it appears it gones on differently ? does the long edge go under the strip ?

Should be one piece starting at the bottom about 10" from the front and going all the way round till the ends meet.

i put the seam at the bottom and cut the length a 1/4'' longer than you need to and glue/fit the last 3-4''

Was doing a search on this because this is my next endeavor on my 53. Found that most pictures are not linked anymore, especially photobucket and webshots .
So I found these two links on you tube showing how to do this job. Got a few hours of research so hopefully this helps someone else in the future.
