I am installing a 10SI GM alternator in my 53 chev truck. Everything I read says to attach the remote voltage sensing wire to the battery terminal on the Altenator, will this cause any problems doing it this way?

It will not hurt a thing. All the little regulator needs is a connection with the outside world and that BATT lug if fine. Some folks argue that this location is too close to the source of the charge and doesn't accurately reflect downstream voltage...do you have any idea how fast electrons move in a copper wire. Hook it there, it will work great.
