Was given an 83' rear seat out of a Chevy Suburban yesterday. I removed the arm rests and put her in to check the fit. Pretty good but need ideas on how to mount it.
I have the gas tank under the seat and the filler neck prevents the passenger side of the seat from resting directly on the floor/fuel tank frame in the rear. If I raise the rear up 3 1/4" it will clear and the seat sits just about level. Ride height, pedal reach. etc. feel good to me from behind the wheel.
So have any of you made rear brackets of platforms for an install simular to this, and if so how you do it?

I installed 2 fiero seats in my '41. I welded 2 brick window lintels together into a Z and used that for the back mount. It gets the height up so the filler neck only comes in a couple incnes but does not interfere with the seat mount. Raising the rear of the seat makes a much more comfortable seating position. I added a piece of 16 ga steel to cover the tank. I welded the seat frames to angle iron. I added a piece of punched angle to the inside of the front edge of the tank surround and fastened it with "stovebolts". I then welded nuts on the bottom sides of the punched angle and the "Z" back mount and fastened the angle iron to those nuts.

Well, the seat is in and the pics are on the Fliker site. Shows all mods required for a 83 Chevy Suburban third seat. Everyone is right they do fit nicely, with a day of work. Ready for cover!

we took the seat frame and cut where the filler tube was then welded the piece back in to clear the tube
