I've done a search in the archives, the tech tips, and Google, but can't find one. There's plenty of Chevrolet decoders, but no GMC. The VIN actually reads and looks like a Chevy VIN, but it has a T at the beginning. Does this "T" mean GMC and that's the only difference? My full VIN is TKE242S522648, which means 72 4x4 V8 Auto built in St. Louis. Only the "T" is unclear. Thanks for the help.

The vin number I listed is on the glove box sticker that list the options, and the VIN listed is on the metal plate riveted to the drivers side door jamb. You say it doesn't look like a GMC VIN. What is an example of a 1970's era GMC VIN? I agree it looks like a Chevy VIN except for the "T" at the beginning. I can't figure out what the "T" means. I just assumed it is a GMC thing. Thanks for the help.
