I have a master cylinder rebuild kit on the way, and need to buy the properly sized flare nut wrench so that I can strip the fittings at the master cylinder prior to taking it off. What size wrench is needed?
Would it be better to skip the wrench purchase, save my money, and just strip the fittings with vise-grips instead?
I already bought some PB Blaster to make the job messy from the get-go.
Is it the same fitting size at the master cylinder as at the wheels?
One last question- what size hone should I be looking for to try to clean up the master cylinder cylinder? I want it to look good before I take it to a machine shop for re-sleeving.
(I guess from my tone, you are getting the feeling that I'm not expecting much from this project.)
Any advice appreciated.

The hone- I thought they came in size ranges. Am I needing one that is something like 3/4 to 1-1/4 inch diameters? How big is that ID? Is it as much as 1-1/2" I can't get my brain around it.

I think the fronts are 1.25" Id and rears are 1.0". I put a $6.00 flaps rebuild kit in one of mine without honing it. Seems to work fine. FLAPS may be less for an assy than the machine shop; the part suppliers are way high on wheel cylinders. I found out the hard way I have some sticky pistons on my motorcycle (see my greasy spoon post 4/29) and I have cleaned those up years ago just using a scotch brite. Time to do it again.
