Did you mean to write .010. The figure you posted, .001 is only a hair oversize and would, or should easily tap in...you must have meant .010, which is ten thousandths and could make it a no-go.

One or two thousandths over the size of the hole in the block should be just about right for a tight tap-in fit. If you taper the dipstick tube so the first 2/3 of the block contact area drops in, the last 1/2" or so is all that really needs to fit tight. A snug slip fit and a drop of red LocTite works, too.

The original is .368 and the Lokar is .369. Are you saying that is just only one thousandths difference?
I am just afraid if I try to force it into the block it will go a few inches and get stuck. I have tried tapping it with medium strength taps but it won't go more than half an inch. I tappered the end somewhat but that didn't seem to help any.
