is this likley to have an upgraded/rv cam? what would be a good cam/intake set up to suit a part time fun truck 49 a.d 1/2 ton
basicly a combo that will esily light the tyres pull hills with ease but still have reasonable mileage

As far as modifications go, if the engine is a good runner, why not see how it performs as is, then if you think it could be better in some way, you can always modify it. A Roch. Q-jet carb set up right or the performer carb. right out of the box. You don't want too much cam if you are using an auto-trans. That is a rugged engine but probably has small valve heads. You may want to change to bigger valve heads or if the budget allows some alum. heads.

It would be a fairly low rpm, low HP unit made for torque and little else. Speed was not an issue as they seldom saw 75 mph. i was thinking of changing heads to the low price patriots or a set of used ,,brand ,, named heads unless theres a good used iron low buck alternative? i havent 100% decided on trans so i could go manual 5 speed also i think summit or paw do there own cam wich is very close to several branded cams specs inc the performer but i cant see me putting it past 5.5k or 6k rpm max
most propably more between 1500-4.5 for everyday use | | |
