iv got a low miles 4brl 350 sbc from a twin wheel camper truck

is this likley to have an upgraded/rv cam? what would be a good cam/intake set up to suit a part time fun truck 49 a.d 1/2 ton
basicly a combo that will esily light the tyres pull hills with ease but still have reasonable mileage
will probably use a 3.23 rear and 235 70 15 tyres and a th350 (see other post)

Hy rusthater, it is impossible to know what is inside the engine, without pulling it apart. As far as modifications go, if the engine is a good runner, why not see how it performs as is, then if you think it could be better in some way, you can always modify it. Hope that helps.

I like the Edelbrock performer cam & intake manifold. A Roch. Q-jet carb set up right or the performer carb. right out of the box. You don't want too much cam if you are using an auto-trans. That is a rugged engine but probably has small valve heads. You may want to change to bigger valve heads or if the budget allows some alum. heads.

Unless its been changed the standard cutaway motorhome chassis engine would have the standard truck engine for the model year which you don't state. It would be a fairly low rpm, low HP unit made for torque and little else. Speed was not an issue as they seldom saw 75 mph. Find out what year it came out of and then work backwards to determine what the spec's were.

i was thinking of changing heads to the low price patriots or a set of used ,,brand ,, named heads unless theres a good used iron low buck alternative? i havent 100% decided on trans so i could go manual 5 speed also i think summit or paw do there own cam wich is very close to several branded cams specs inc the performer but i cant see me putting it past 5.5k or 6k rpm max
most propably more between 1500-4.5 for everyday use
