When I bought my 52 i was told by the person that i purchased it off of (a reliable source) that the previous owner who was working on restoring the truck before having to sell it, installed a "rebuilt" 235 that was originally from a 1954 chevy car (unsure which). My question is what would the difference be between a engine out of a car and out of a truck. Also does a powerglide tansmission automatically add 10 extra horsepower or what? Im confused on this powerglide stuff. Truck motors are about torq, Car motors are about HP. PowerGlide is a two speed automatic. Fast and Faster usually gets the job done. Drag racers like them alot.

A 'Glide engine has a hydralic cam with a bit more agressive lift. The reason for the need for the 'Glide engine needing more power is that the 'Glide takes more poer to operate.

It would take you uphill at 70 miles an hour – and still be able to push you to the back of the seat! And it wasn’t wound out. Whenever my great-uncle would drive the truck he would say, “are you sure you don’t have a V8 hidden under there?!” I never could figure why it did that, as everything I have ever heard as said that those trucks just shouldn’t be able to do that - but it did. When I went through the truck, I found out that everything in it was original – except for the engine. There were a few other "cosmetic" differences.
The standard truck 235 was about 112 gross hp and the various versions of the car 235 were about 115-150 hp (Corvette at 150, I think). The Corvette 235 had mechanical lifters, a 261 cam, and 3 side-draft carburetor.
