I would put an add in the parts wanted section and see if you can come up with a good used tank for less money. | | | | Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 270 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 270 | 41-46 will be a perfect fit. 39 will fit and work but drain hole on tank bottom is in a differnt location. Not certain about 40. I would think chevy and GMC would be the same. You may find slight differences in capacity with bigger tonage. | | | | Joined: Feb 2008 Posts: 70 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Feb 2008 Posts: 70 | theres a couple on ebay now forsale....100 bucks for a used one and about 200 for a new one......hard to find and expensive as usual........ | | | | Joined: Mar 2008 Posts: 32 Apprentice | Apprentice Joined: Mar 2008 Posts: 32 | I don't know if this helps but my dad hatted the gas tank coming from the center of his 46 Chevy panel truck (really small tank) so we removed it and placed a tank under the rear of the truck with a small goose neck coming up flush to the outside of the truck. We used a Polyethylene Gas Tank out of a 53 Chevy car including the fill nozzle. It even came with the straps!
