I'm going to get a new key for my locking door handle on my 1954 3100. It's situated on the passenger handle. I was wondering if I can switch the locking part over to the drivers side it will be easier to lock there... Any ideas Thanks Peter

You sure can but I would suggest you find another keyed handle and have the locksmith key them both the same for you. That way you have locks in both doors. This is what I did for my 54 and it works great. Cost of keys and re-keying was $65.00 which is much less than a new key set.

So Houston for now i think I'll stay with just one lock. I don't live in a bad area or leave my truck for long... So i can take the lock button from the passenger side and the regular button from the drivers side and interchange them with out a problem ... that will work great for me. Peter

Even easier is to just swap the handles. The key would be updside down but would work just fine.

I moved the locking handle over to the drivers' side and it works fine on my 1954 GMC. That's the door used most often and it is a lot more handy.
