| | | | Joined: Jun 2005 Posts: 56 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jun 2005 Posts: 56 | well folks, i finally got a coe. it is a 52 chevy and has 16000 on the id plate. i went today and looked it over pretty good . i will go back next week and pick it up as soon as i get new brakes on the rear of my daully.
it has a flat bed on it now, but i believe it was a dump at one time. it is a short wheel base and still has a hyd/pump and tank under it.
i have been looking for one in this area for years and had no luck till now. went to a truck show in spencer n.c. years ago and met spanky and have had the bug ever since, i will get some pic,s soon.

'47-'55 1st series Chevrolets, came in three different wheelbases. 5100 series 110"in. wheelbse, 5400 series 134"in. wheelbase, & 5700 series 158"in. wheelbase. So is yours the "shorty" 110"in. wheelbase. If so you don't see them often. Most all Chevy COE's were 16000lb. gvw. 2 tons. There were a few special 15000lb. gvw 1 1/2 tons, but they are "rare". I thought I had bad written all over me buying things on ebay but you have some serious purchasing Karma going on. You have worked your way up to buying an old truck that needs to be towed home. Oh wait....I have done that three times.
