I am in the process of replacing ALL the 4WD running gear on my 42 gmc mobile repair shop. All the original stuff has only 15,000 miles on it and no rust as it came from the southwest.
(see www.centralvermont.com/restorations/42gmc/42gmc.htm )
I am looking for a straight or slightly dropped front axle including brakes, spindals, drums etc that will fit the 8 bolt 16" rims and tires from a 3500 gmc dually. I would prefer something with disc brakes but I can always change them later. I live in central vermont.

Look under a step van, I believe that there are a few of those with 8 lugs, disc brakes, and I-beam axles.
There are lots of step vans with the 5 and 10 lugs on 7.25" circle, and lots of them with that bolt pattern or the 8 lug pattern that are independent fronts.
And I am reasonably sure there is an 8 lug I-beam front, I too am looking for one.

They would have to be narrowed to work, but that is doable.
