i've got a couple general questions and a couple more specific ones...
how do i "dial-in" my one-barrel rochester?
how do i time my 235?
how would i know if i have solid lifters, and if i do, how often do they need adjustment, and how is that process undergone?
is there a part i can get to route the crankcase ventilator fumes to the ground, as opposed to the current status of blasting the distributor?
and lastly, this may sound odd, because i'm not sure what it is, but there's this hose/line that doesn't seem to carry anything going from my brake pedal to under the hood, connecting to the throttle linkage. it also has an accordion-like rubber tube, and i have no idea what any of it's for.

thanks in advance! :p

Timing: set points gap, then run the engine and time #1 cylinder to bb on the flywheel through the hole on the starter side of the bellhousing

Valves: adjust gap to spec (see tech tips page) whenever it needs it.

Carb: Make sure it is clean and the power valve is working, then adjust idle mixture for maximum vacuum at curb idle when warm (usually 550 rpm)

It sounds like you are missing your road draft tube which runs down by the oil pan.

It also sounds like you would really benefit from a reprint of a factory shop manual, available from many vendors.
