The casting code is B57848850. Motor is in a 1959 Chevy Apache truck. I pulled that number on the passenger side in front of the distributor. I have searched the net to match the code but cant find a match. Its a straight six.

Any help would be great!!

Did you get a good read on the numbers?

My casting guide says the number should be seven digits between 37701488 and 3836848. I'm not that familiar with 235s, so maybe theres is another number and someone will chime in.

Brian - the casting number is actually cast into the block, and as Larry says, will start with a 3 .... if those numbers were stamped into the small machined pad near the distributor, they'll most likely be a rebuilders number, as it's not the pattern used from the factory
