I just hauled the door weatherstripping out of my '61 today. I am wondering who makes the best quality replacement? I know that some catalogs have reasonable prices and even cheap ones for these kits. I am not interested in poorly made, ill fitting, junk. I want a nice, quality, durable replacement. The stuff I took out was almost 50 years old and aside from some bad spots was still pretty pliable and all of that. I want to buy an origional quality replacement. Thanks and I look forward to your ideas.

Kyle

You'll most likely get the same answer from most of the guys here, Steele Rubber products. I've personally tried stuff from 2 different companies, Precision and Soff-Seal, and have not been happy with either one, paticularly the door seals. Next set will be from Steele.

if you have a favorite vendor, inquire about who supplies their rubber, many vendors carry only Steele products and most have the same price as Steele ... if they can't or won't tell you, deal direct grin

Well I gotta say, I have two sets of "Precision" door seals from Classic Parts of America, for my 1950, 3600 and installed one pair last summer after repainting the doors. They've been on the truck almost a year and I see no problems with them. They fit the opening nice and snug, not to tight and seal just fine, I get no air leakage and I've been out driving it at 45-50 mph in this upper midwest winter at below freezing.
I have a buddy that just finishe up a 1950 street rod version of the 3100 and the steele door seals that he bought caused nothing but trouble. They couldn't get the doors to close at all with them on the truck and finally tore them off and replaced them with another brand, which one, I don't can't tell you.

Funny, we just had this discussion last month and the overwhelming choice was Classic Parts. I just love the Internet.

I have used the Classic Parts of America (Chevy Duty) doors seals and they produced an excellent fit.

However, Denny's story about his buddy having problems with Steele Rubber door seals is the first bad report of Steele products that I have ever heard. Steele products are usually excellent but very expensive.
