I looked into the frame of the window itself and noticed there are philip screws that are holding in the window. Ok,...long story short, neighbour says " by geez don,t do that !, ya don,t need to ! " I would like to yank the windows out do any, or all the grinding, primer, paint etc, and THEN re install each window. Is he just lazy ( he won,t be helping ) or should I follow through ? Whats the big deal right ? Couple of screws, some sanding, primer, paint, re install, seal, done right ? More water tight than a dolphins behind she must be. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2006 Posts: 1,703 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Mar 2006 Posts: 1,703 | well there is a bit more to it than a few screws, but you will be happier doin as you desribed remove the regulators and glass, clean everyhing up replace the seals, inspect and replace worn out parts, lube everything. I dedicated a day to each door rebuild as far as cleaning, painting, replacing the seals and reassembly. But I am happy with the results! | | | | | Joined: Sep 2007 Posts: 2,644 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2007 Posts: 2,644 | I agree, take it apart and clean up everything... there's probably some rust under the windshield gasket anyway. Do it right and rest easy. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2007 Posts: 166 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Dec 2007 Posts: 166 | Thanx Guys ! Ya my gut feeling was right. If the answer is "not much" then by all means do it! Remember that there will be many decisions like this one as you work your way through the rebuild/restore, where this will only take a few days you will multiply this by all the other total tear-downs and you could be looking at three years, maybe more; I'm living proof of this. Sometimes I wish I had taken a few shortcuts but I know that when it's finished I'll have do regrets, at least not about doing a thorough job.
