I have a 1951 3/4 ton GMC that originally came with a 228 cid engine. Would this truck accomodate a 1951 270 cid GMC inline six engine? Would the motor mounts be the same? would it mate up with the same transmission?

I believe the motors are externally identical. My '55 1st had a 248 from the factory, but now has a later 270. It looks like it grew there.

It's true. I really don't do anything but browse the Internet looking for trouble...

GMC stuff is all same-o-same-o outside but the flywheel is different 228/248 don't interchange with 270/302

You may have to change the starter ring gear depending on which combo you use....but not rocket science....just look and measure carefully
