I won't say it can't be fixed but it needs a roof, driver's door, rear doors, side panel and who knows what all else. I suspect the other side is hurt too, and the cowl may be tweaked.
If it was within an hours drive I'd drag it home for free.

That seller would be smart to take Steve's offer. | | | | Joined: Mar 2007 Posts: 4,185 Moderator | Moderator Joined: Mar 2007 Posts: 4,185 | I hate when that happens. He says that one door and the top are bent. It's likely a parts truck now. | | | | Joined: Oct 2003 Posts: 5,152 Cruising in the Passing Lane | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Oct 2003 Posts: 5,152 | You know, if it were within 100 miles I'd go $99 on it (Alabama from Seattle--no chance). I think enough of the interior window garnishes could have survived to make it worth that to me.
Before I though it was a panel...

The front door is twisted, rear door crushed and the rear qtr panel is crushed. Not only that, but I would bet money the frame is bent badly and the entire floor & body is twisted. It would be good for some front end parts & probably the motor. I would not be surprised if the transmission is broken from the way the thing lists to the left. If I needed the front parts I would give maybe $400-$500 for it with free delivery. 1957 Chevrolet 1/2-ton Stepside LB in the Gallery My Photobucket shots The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself." - John Stuart Mill (1806 - 1873) | | | | Joined: Jul 2005 Posts: 595 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Jul 2005 Posts: 595 | if the truck was from the dessert it might be worth the $99 smashed but it's probably pretty rusty. looks like the local hulker going to get this one for scrap prices. | | | | Joined: Apr 2004 Posts: 72 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Apr 2004 Posts: 72 | Definately a parts hulk now. Definately not for $1500! Two bills and a smoke wrench will save what is good. I would take the rear fenders even the drivers side. Part it I say! Part it out!

I'd probably be game if it were only $160. I can see parts there I'd like to have, but not at the cost.
Okay I've emailed him about parts. There are Suburban parts that could have survived that are hard to find. And I need some of them...

This is funny, because I have been seeing that 'truck' floating around all of the 'local' Craigslist pages I visit, and I have been thinking the same thing!
I can't believe he sold it though. | | | | Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 267 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 267 | Ha, ha! This is funny, because I have been seeing that 'truck' floating around all of the 'local' Craigslist pages I visit, and I have been thinking the same thing!

The clam shell tail gate and the lid should sell for around $500 if they do not have rust. The interior trim should go for around $150 and if it had the seats add another $1000. There was a lot of good parts, but my question was could it have been salvaged. I did not see the later pictures until after I posted that question, and at that point it was obvious. If someone was to put a lot of money into it, anything is possible, but this one was toast! | | |
