I thought I had a 235, but was informed it's not. It was reported to be from a "65 Chevy Biscayne, but who knows. It was free.
The number right behind the distributor is 4886F7
The number exactly in the middle of the spark plugs (3 on each side) is 4680
The number on top of the intake manifold (towards the front of the engine) is 8859381; and underneath that number is GM9.

It's either a 230 or 250. It has no similarity to a 235. It can be put in the older trucks with modifications.

Chevy didn't introduce the 250 until 67' so if its an original 65' then you have 230.

some late month 1966 chevrolet trucks had the 250 installed....it was an option as well as the oil bath air filter in 1966 and then in 1967 the 250 was installed in many chevrolets such as trucks and novas etc....whats funny is that all the websites say 67 was the first year of the 250 but my father purchased a 1966 chevrolet step side custom cab with that option from the factory in 1966 and the truck was ordered in january of 1966........the truck looks today like it did off the showroom floor.......with complete paperwork from canceled bank checks to window sticker.......truck still has the original chalk marks on the firewall......wink wink

i forgot to add........from the original invoice the 250 option was $68.21 and the oil bath option was $6.50 ...with the 250 option you also received the heavy duty clutch which was $11.85 for a total price of $2,583.55
