What is the correct color for running boards on a 54 3600? Is it the same color as the exterior or black?

I may be wrong but I can not remember seeing any other color than black on all running boards of all makes. Those where the fenders run down and connect to them the color changes to black rubber mats. I may be wrong, just ask my wife...

Squeegebob,

As stated above, 3600 (and probably all other 47-55 models) would have had black running boards

The 1/2 ton deluxe 2-tone exterior RPO in 54/55 might have had lower-body colored running boards but these are quite uncommon.

Would the black be gloss or satin?

The color is a gloss black and the process is dipping the part in black paint call "Japaning". Chevrolet used this process on fenders and running boards since the early 30"s.

I used 90% gloss black powder coat simply because these take abuse and it's a tough finish. I think it looks great.
