my 1946 panel truck..Here they are..
Head 838773...1937-1940
block...next left to the dist..on a flat boss/
242495...this number is also stamped
further down the block near the front
of the block....
next right of the dist..on the facing
of the block is stamped GM 48 and
around the number 48 is a large
circle around it.
I Give Up...it don't understand it...I believe
it is a 216 with the large pushrod cover..the
valve cover is held down with two large nuts...
If someone can clear the dust for me I would
be very thankful...Was this motor purchased
from a engine shop?...Whats with the number??

canadian truck...and I did take the starter off
and I did find some stamping...but again they
seem to be weird numbers..I don't know? any Ideas? Here's what I found CONV 3- H 188

you know that GM has a restoration package that they will supply for a charge of about $35. Mine gave me the date of manufacture, information about the exact model number , color and production figures for the year. In addition they provided all the engineering specs that they had for that year. | | |
