So I've been searching a bit to see what year GMC switched to front discs on the trucks. It seems to be 1970, but I'm not certain. Can anyone confirm this? I drive hilly country; discs are nice.

Thanks!

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing.

My understanding is that in '71 disks became optional and in '72 became standard.

Thanks. So far I am finding 69s and 72s for sale. I'll ask the sellers.

Front disk brakes were std equipment on all light duty (1/2-1 ton) GM trucks in '71. Dodge and ford only offered them as an option.

I don't believe it woulf be a difficult conversion if you found a truck without them. But it would probably be eazier to find a truck that already has them.
