Has anyone put a t5 in their 41-46? I'm considering it in my 42 1.5 ton for the overdrive and and end to double clutching. If so - how did the parkign brake match up and will i have to relocate my battery? I've read the tech articles on here and on the inliners site. I'm building up a 235 to go in front of it and am planning on keeping my orig. starter and bellhousing. Since it's a bigger truck i already have an open driveline. if anyone has done that swap are there any tricks or problems i might encounter?

Your original clutch housing has to go,need one from a 48-53 truck. You can buy a housing allready modified for a pedal mount from Jim Carter, or you can make your own like I did or mount the pedals to a bracket on the frame like some others do.You'll need to fab a bracket for the parking brake, bolt it to the tranny. On my 37 1/2 ton I drilled and tapped the tranny case for the brake handle mounting, but this was on a cast iron transmission.
A T-5 in a big truck sounds marginal to me,Clark made syncro 5 spd OD bigger truck trannys that will bolt up , more or less. They are hard to find however.

Tony P, do you have a picture of the modification you did to the bellhousing to use your stock pedals on the 37 ?

I don't think a t5 is marginal - it's not like a 216 or 235 will build enough power to even begin to tax the thing.

I wanted a T5 because of the overdrive and the possibility of keeping my parking brake configuration as well as a stock look.

I'd like to be able to not over-rev the thing on the wya in to work eveyr day <like i do currently>

Anyhow, with a .73 5th gear and a stock rear end with my 38.75" diameter rubber - i should hit 73 MPH at 3000 rpm. Which i won't ever have any desire to exceed. (currently at 3,000 RPM i'm maxing out at 54 MPH)

If you guys have any better suggestions for an overdrive manual transmission feel free to bring it on.

Shane, marginal cause the truck is relatively heavy as compared to PU's. But you might be the first one to do the swap in a large truck,so go for it and see what happens.
Rusty, I can't find the photos, it was about 7 years ago.I took a few measurements from the original type clutch housing.Had to grind the cast iron some, then made a bracket from 1/8 inch thick steel, bent it to fit properly. Then bolted the bracket to the 48-53 truck bellhousing.
