If you want different/modern rims on you AD truck and still want to use stock hub caps, I have found that you have two choices. They are: (1) remove the center of the stock rim and have a wheel company place it in a modern rim to create a remanufactured rim, which will then fit over disc brakes and large brake drums (2) order a modern rim to the width of your choice and use a hub cap adapter to mount the original hub cap to the new rim.
The Early Wheel Co.(805/688-1187)at
www.earlywheel.com offers both of these options. Their hub cap adapter is a metal ring, which is spot welded to the original or repro hub cap. This ring will then snap into the "bumps", which are inside the center of the modern rim. Early Wheel will spot weld the adapters for you or you can purchase them and do the work yourself. Note: These adapters will not work on rims that have "bumps" on the outside of the center of the rim, such as on stock Chevy rims.
This topic was overed in part by an earlier post by Texaholic200, and he referred me to the Early Wheel Co. where I obtained some of the above information. I thank him for his assistance in this matter.
