Speedo needle was waving at me. What causes this? Cable or speedo head?

I disconnected mine at the transmission, and lubed the bottom third with lithium grease. The center drive cable usually slips out easily - so don't drop it on the ground! | | | | | Joined: Jun 2000 Posts: 2,773 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jun 2000 Posts: 2,773 | Lithium grease gets hard when its cold. I'd use either real speedo cable lube or a moly grease. Be sure to work it into the cable. If the cable has any kinks or fraying, replace the cable and the housing.

lithium grease on the cable. That stuff gets rock hard. Some good clear silicone grease works well.
And, last's a good long time.
